REBECCA DOUGLASS

My creative mediums and outputs often shift and change, interests, projects, locations and life always in flux. With this in mind, I define myself as an artistic researcher, writer and cultural organiser. This website acts as a snapshot of the work I am producing, offering an impression of the themes which excite me, and providing a landing page for people who would like to collaborate - just reach out.

My research is playful and speculative, driven by a forward thinking motion towards imagining possible futures from eco-feminist perspective. Inspired by the dreamy yet complex worlds of Science-Fiction, imbued with influences from Surrealism, I often find myself toying with ideas of world-building, the (im)possible and collectivity. My practice currently consists of writing, performance and intentional collaborations with artists and communities.

I graduated cum laude (with honours) from the Art and Performance Research Master’s at the University of Amsterdam with my project Drift Matter: Walking Towards an Anarchive of Place in which I developed my ongoing curiosity into the intersection between walking, place-based research and (an)archival practices. I received a First-Class Bachelor of Arts from London Contemporary Dance School.

Aside from independent creative endeavours, I write frequently for Springback Magazine as a performance journalist, and I am the program manager at The Feminist Lecture Program, an online Gender Studies lecture program.

Notable projects include RE/SOUNDING PLACE (2026) - a residency at Sentiei D’Abruzzo (IT) funded by Culture Moves Europe, Digital Permaculture (2023) - created at and funded by Northern Sustainable Futures (SE), The Opposite of a Black Hole (2022) for which I received Arts Council England National Lottery Funding, and VERTICAL TERRAIN (2022) also funded by ACE.
