Newcastle born dance artist Rebecca Douglass is occupied with navigating worlds of text, performance and new-media art as both creator and performer. She completed her BA at London Contemporary Dance School and recently deepened her studies on the Architetture di Corpi HUMUS Professional Programme, Bologna. She is unpicking how her background in dance supports ventures into versions of herself as Writer, Producer and Researcher, and was a member of the 2023 cohort for Springback Academy.

She works collaboratively with a practice that extends across disciplines, frequently working with the medium of dance as a vehicle to investigate themes of Surrealism, the existential, the cyberself and Feminism. Her research bleeds through into alternate manifestations within film, text and event production. Her foray into the intersection between dance and digital art is explored in ‘The Opposite of a Black Hole’ (2022) for which she received Arts Council Funding, and ‘erms’ (2020-21), both collaborations with Berlin based artist Tasha Hess-Neustadt.

She has produced several multidisciplinary art events including ‘Dancing Together Festival’ (2023), ‘VERTICAL TERRAIN’ (2022) and ‘erms? extravaganza’ (2021) an online festival.
