Hosted by Ugly Duck Tanner Street, VERTICAL TERRAIN carved space for both the performances of commissioned artists, as well as the intentional building of new networks and creative communities. Dance, sound, performance and installation artists (BAME, female, LGBTQ+ focused) presented new works, developed over the course of the previous weeks in collaboration with Fieldworks Dance Artist in Residence programme.

The event itself encouraged interwoven interactions between both the audiencee, organisers and artists through participatory performances and interventions. The event concluded with an artist Q&A and open discussion; here, each artist was invited to present some form of verbal offering to the audience, whether that be a description of their work, some questions they would like answering, any inspirations or other thoughts and insights. The audience were welcome to respond with valuable feedback, cultivating this interactive atmosphere that we felt important to create at this time.

Looking towards the future, we hope VERTICAL TERRAIN continues to grow through sustained collaborations with the involved creatives, and an enduring sense of community between artists and attendees.
