A Newcastle born and UK based dance artist, Rebecca Douglass is occupied with navigating the world of performance, movement and new media art as both a creator and a performer. She completed her BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance 2017 - 2020 at London Contemporary Dance School where she received the Principal’s Award. She was a part of the first cohort on the Architetture di Corpi HUMUS Professional Training Programme in Bologna, IT.

She is a collaborative dance artist whose practice extends across disciplines. Her foray into the cross section between new media art and Screendance is explored in ‘The Opposite of a Black Hole’ (2022) for which she has received Arts Council Funding, and ‘erms’ (2020-21), both ongoing collaborations with Tasha Hess-Neustadt. Working with sound artist Jake Burgess, she is developing research into the use of text and manipulations of vocal sounds into sonic landscapes for performance work.

She embodies themes of absurdity, the existential, cyberself and feminism into her practice and is curious to unpick how practicing movement can support ventures into other versions of herself as a curator, writer and researcher. She has produced several multidisciplinary art events including ‘VERTICAL TERRAIN’ (2022), ‘erms? extravaganza’ (2021) an online festival, and ‘COME/CLICK TO SEE’ (2020) an evening of multidisciplinary artwork at a micro-venue in East London. She was a member of The Fearless Artist’s ‘Young Curators Programme’ 2020.
